My new friend is named "Mao Mao" and she is a cat! When we go for a walk she comes to visit with me. I have never ever been close to a kitty so I am not sure why she wants to be my friend. She likes to lie on the grass in front of me. It's a bit weird. The other day I chased her into the tree. She still wants to be my friend though. My human holds on to me so that cannot flatten Ms. Mao Mao. Here a few photos of our latest "visit" with each other.

Asian dawgs and a hippo

The human returned from his hair-dispersing exercise around the China Sea with some interesting photos of dogs in the region. My favourite photos include two red Siberian Huskies at Victoria Peak in Hong Kong and a beautiful black and white at a market in HK too. They love their huskies in Hong Kong!

I threw in a hippo from Busan for those who like hippos!

The final photo shows a nice pooch who likes to hang out at the Ming tombs in Beijing.

Hounds and Humans,

The male human a.k.a. Earl is off on a cruise to Southeast Asia. In his most recent email he noted that some of my hair has been found upon a pair of his black dress pants. He was delighted to find these silvery threads upon his pants and he has been planting them surreptitiously about the cruise ship which is appropriately called the Diamond Princess.

In fact, you will find attached a few photos from the most recent snowfall which show me in a sparkling coat of diamonds/snowflakes. It's tough being a princess!

I have been officially inducted into the Husky Mouser Hall of Fame. I caught my first mouse last night! These little creatures have crossed the line between cute and cheeky. My food has now become a target of their nightly reconnaissance missions. Last night, the human came home from work to find a dispatched mouse on the living room carpet. Praise was heaped upon me. It feels good.

There are no photos of this momentous event. The creature is now resting peacefully in the world of meese.

The poor humans have been fending off waves of wee mice in the house. The mice have been very content in our home. First they found the 10 lb bag of sunflower seeds which were being saved for the winter months. They munched up half of the bag before they were discovered. It was a well contained mess because they simply tore in the bag and sat on top of the seeds working their way through the bag. The bag was conveniently sitting in plastic bin with no lid. All of the seed shells fell into the bin and nothing really was noticed until one day the human thought she heard some scurrying in the general area of the seeds. Scurrying must always be investigated. It's never a good thing to discover that a new breed of creature has moved into the house uninvited. It seems that they came in through some vents under the front stairs.

I have been doing my best to keep them away from my food but other than that I have not been successful at catching them. They are faster than a fleeting shadow. By the time I notice one, it has disappeared. The humans are fighting back with little houses filled with food. In the beginning, I emptied the food from the house because I thought that it was meant for me. The houses are filled with cookies and chocolate bars and oats and dried fish. The mice are very happy and have started to move into the little houses. Here are a few photos of the happy mice before their relocation to the golf course.

The humans love all creatures great and small that is why they decided to use the little Monopoly-type green houses to relocate the uninvited guests. We all like to think that the mice are enjoying their new surroundings in the public golf course. One of the humans even decided to send a Christmas card which celebrates the Season with a Jingle Mouse. A cuter mouse has never been seen or relocated!

Someone left the cake out in the rain...

Well, it wasn't actually a cake but I did leave my bully stick out in the rain. I surreptitiously removed the shrink-wrapped bully stick from the goody bag that the human brought back from Bosley's and I brought it out to the backyard to enjoy. How was I to know that a torrential rain would fall upon my bully stick and it would soon begin to grow to its original size! Here is a photo of the ever-expanding bully stick versus the shrink-wrapped smoked model. The heat vent is necessary to dry my stick.:-)

The human told me that she was reminded of a song from a very long time ago when she saw the sad shape that my stick was in. She did not seem to notice that I had stolen it from the bag and that the shrink-wrap was still attached at the bottom of the stick. She asked me to watch this video:

European Hounds

The poor human took a trip to the Baltic Sea without me! She missed me so much that she sought out European dogs of all shapes and sizes. She took photos of these doggies so that I could see what she was up to.

There are German, Swedish and Estonian dogs represented here. The man-made dogs were found in The Hermitage in St. Petersburg, Russia. The hot dog was a Thuringer Bratwurst found in Rostock, Germany. Be sure to have a Bratwurst when in Germany!

Drooper am I?

A human owned by a wee Japanese Chin named Sarah told my human that I reminded him of Drooper from "The Banana Splits"! To me this is a very fine compliment because Drooper happens to be a lion and we all know that lions are the Kings of the animal kingdom. It could have something to do with my very beautiful pink nose.:-)

Drooper has the best thing going on with trash. It actually jumps out of the can for him. How cool is that?
Drooper seems to have a Jack Benny thing going at the end. Jack Benny is so cool.

Beach day with a cutie

The two humans decided to take me for a trip to MacDonald Beach on Tuesday. It's one of my all-time favourite places. The dogs and their humans are the friendliest in the whole Lower Mainland. I met the cutest white pit bull girl. I never did catch her name but we hit it off instantly.

My human has been trying so many things that nothing really gets done. She says that she is a dilettante. Sounds yummy!

Here are a few photos that she has managed to take of me with her Christmas-present-camera. It became a lost camera during the Olympics but an extremely kind person found the camera and was able to return it because of the great human creation called Craigslist. Craigslist is a lot like pee-mail except instead of their noses the humans use their eyes.

Wowsers! My friendly neighborhood vet sent me a Christmas card. Have I ever told you all just how much I love going to the vet? They are the nicest people in the world.
Here's a photo of me with the card from VVH which stands for Vancouver Veterinary Hospital.
My human has been running around like a maniac for the last month. She blames it on something called the Christmas rush. Humans are so stupid.:-) She says that it will be over on Friday. I hope that I get something out of this silly rush thing.

Husky on a Cruise Ship?

Here's a picture of me on the pretty fabric that the human loves! The fabric is called "Annabelle Oasis" and it is a Liz Claiborne product.
On another note the human went for a tour of a cruise ship which was called the Ryndam. She saw a husky on the ship and took a picture of it to show me. She says that she will go on a cruise to Alaska when huskies are allowed on cruise ships. We could have great fun on the ship, I am thinking.

And mom knows best.:-) Ever since I was a little pup, I have kept my beautiful tail safe and pretty by tucking it in when I lie down.

The humans decided that we needed to have the bathroom fixed up because it looked grungy. Here's a photo of me enjoying the final product. There has been no talk of giving me a bath in the new tub. I wonder why?

On another note, I have perfected a special welcome for my humans when they come home. My latest trick is to jump on the kitchen table so that I can give them proper licks. They seem to enjoy the royal treatment.

Here I am ding-a-lingering by the door bell. My humans have installed a bird bell on the door knob of the kitchen door. Whenever I wish to leave the house, all I have to do is nudge the bell and one of the humans will come to open the back door in response to my dingling. I am not implying that my humans are ding-a-lings but they do respond to a little dingle now and then.

When a beautiful pup enters your life, there is no going back. It is always love at first sight. For my friend Vickie, she fell in love with Franki's niece "Mindy" at first sight. Vickie and I met because of our love of dogs and wolves and we both hoped to spend many happy hours together with our two girls "Kira" and "Franki" as well as the newest addition to Vickie's family "Mindy". Little "Mindy" was born on Valentine's Day and she and her three litter-mates were dubbed the love-puppies. This Easter weekend, Vickie and her hubby Walter as well as their beautiful husky "Kira" drove all the way to Dawson Creek, BC from Vancouver to bring sweet "Mindy" to her new home. Before Vickie and her family had a chance to meet "Mindy" an unimaginable tragedy took "Mindy" away from us all. She and her litter mates received their first vaccinations on Thursday and "Mindy" was unable to tolerate the vaccine. Her small body went into anaphylactic shock and she was unable to survive. My dear friend Vickie is devastated and so am I. My heart goes out to Vickie and her family.

My handsome brother "Sizzler" in Dawson Creek has been busy and he is now the proud Papa of four beautiful Sibes. Let's not forget about the proud Mama whose name is "Mercy" which is short for Mercedes. She's been doing all of the hard work.:-)
There are two black/white girls and two grey/white boys. I am so proud of them that I have to post the latest photos for you all. Mother "Mercy" is watching the two pups singing for their supper through the back door.

Today is my big day! I am two years old. My human has not been keeping my blog updated because she can barely keep up with me. I make sure that she gets lots of exercise and does not spend too much time on the computer. Here are a few recent photos of me. One shows me on the back porch which has been modified with duct tape to prevent me from chewing the post. The other shows me with a new neigborhood pup named Justus. He's the cutest little fellow! He even came to my house on Hallowe'en.:-) The third photo shows me in my window seat watching the world go by. It's my favourite spot to curl up.:-)

Two of my prettiest girlfriends gave me a device for making me even more beautiful than I already am. My friends' names are Betty and Veronica and they happen to be the most adorable cats in my universe. The beautification tool is called a Shed-ender which sounds very dramatic. The human seems happy with its abilities to remove some of my excess hair although there will be no end to the shedding.:-) I am determined to produce even more fur through the winter months. The Shed-ender has met its match!

ate the honey! I have been such a busy dog this summer that the human could not keep up with me. When the humans go out it is my turn to shine. I like to investigate the cupboards to see if there are any new interesting things available. This honey jar was very nice to work on. I decided to bring it into the living room and lay it on my bed so that I could enjoy it fully. Nothing like that smooth feeling of honey on the tongue or on the floor for that matter!

My human has been taking me to wonderful spots so we have had little time to blog. Here are a few photos from the excellent places that I have been on the Fraser River. We like to go to Macdonald Beach which is near the Vancouver International Airport and to Fraser River Park which is on the north side of the river opposite the airport. There are so many nice dogs and really nice humans who love dogs. Sometimes there are even horses, so I can have a few extra treats when my human isn't looking.

One day we went to North Vancouver to Cates Park and we had a great adventure. When we got back to the car, one of the tires was flat! The human seemed a bit discouraged at the flat tire but then lots of other humans came to help her and a friendly police officer called a tow truck for her. The tow truck man did not charge any money for adding air to the tire and he told her to take it to a local garage where they fixed the tire for only $25.00. The human woman was very thankful for all of the help because she had to keep her visit to North Van a secret. The human man had told her NOT to go to North Van because it was too far. Not listening to the human man is always a mistake.:-)

My Great Dane friend Behr Behr
invited me to participate in a doggie meme. Although the word looks like it should be pronounced Mimi, it has only one syllable and sounds like cream. The Wikipedia people say a meme is about self-promotion. Here I go, promoting myself again:

The meme requires me to link to the wonderful pooch who tagged me and that would be Behr Behr who has the best sense of humour since she laughs at my jokes.:-)

Next, I have to talk about five different subjects that I have posted about before in my blog. I feel like I am running for Prezzident!
The subjects are:
1. Family - There are two branches in my family. One branch is of the two-legged human variety which includes my angel-sister Tara as well as the two humans Connie & Earl. The other branch is the Dawson Creek chapter of my clan which includes human Gramma Debra and all of my four-legged kin.

2. Friends - I have a great friend named Cali. Cali is a Vizsla. She is so much fun to play with. I wish that I could play with all of my cyberspace pals too.

3. Myself - Digging is my passion! A good hole is never hard to find! My motto is "A hole in every spot".

4. Something I love... Well, that has to be chasing after ducks which is a very bad thing. I have gotten into trouble more than once because of my desire to swim with the ducks. The humans like to swim with porpoises and dolphins but I prefer ducks.:-)

5. Can be anything I choose... Without a doubt, becoming a full-fledged member of the Husky United Liberation Army before my first birthday has to be my greatest achievement thus far.

My human has been so busy that she never sat down with me to blog some of my adventures. The whole month of January was great but now it's almost gone. We had snow a couple of times and I got to run in the golf course because the golfers cannot golf in the snow. Yeah!

The human got a new camera but she is still trying to figure out how to get the pictures into the computer. I have a photo of the new camera because I took the image from the Digital Photography Review. The camera model is older than I am but the human says that it is a great little camera.

Christmas Eve and all is swell...

The human sez that the big day is tomorrow! Every day has been a big day for me because of all the wonderful Christmas cards that I have received from the best doggies and their humans. The human showed off the cards to her friends and everyone says that blogging dogs are the best! Way down under, Charlie and Opy started it all and the rest of us caught the big wave as it circled the world. Woo woo! It's been good ride on the magic carpet of luv.:------) Somehow the human's camera ended up in the camera hospital for Christmas. I might have had something to do with it... Thought you all might like to see a few photos from my brothers and sisters. I think that we are a mighty good lookin' family much like Brad and Angelina except for the big lips. Santa Claus is already in the air. He should be dropping by in about 9 hours.

I have been working furiously to gain acceptance to the Husky United Liberation Army(HULA) and on Monday I was granted full membership in this most illustrious league of like-minded working dogs. Ye Olde Middle Name Game

Hollybollyboo finds the coolest games. She tagged me to play the Middle Name Game and, since it is Saturday, I have time to play. The way the game works is to use the initials of your middle name to come up with words which describe your unique character.

Middle name you ask? The middle name of a dog is varied on a daily basis but certain names stick. My human likes to call me Pumpkin for some unknown reason so here we go:

Princess -- 'cause I live the good life...

Underwear -- as in stolen daily from the laundry basket;-)

Maniac -- nightly zoomies between the living room and bedroom qualify!

Plastic -- milk bottles, watering cans, pop bottles are delightful to destroy!

Kleptomaniac -- stealing the dishcloth, dish scrubber, dish brush keep my klepto skills honed:-)

Interrogator -- I like to bark at my humans when they take too long to get going. Usually my main question is "When are we going OUT?"!!!!!!! My main method of interrogation is torture by use of the claw.

Naughty -- digging into the sofa and the bed are two of my favourite naughty things:-)

I've been busier than...

a one armed-paperhanger with a case of hives! Summer is meant for fun and I have been making sure that I get some of that fun stuff going on for me! The human woman has taken me on various adventures which I made even better by adding a Husky twist to the day. My best day so far was a trip to the local golf course where the maintenance workers were on strike. I was running free in the totally unpopulated course, save for four men who were searching for "the hole" -- gee whiz, don't they know how to dig one? Out of the corner of my eye, I spotted some duckies on something the golfers call a "water trap" but it just looked like a pond to me. Without a moment's hesitation I flew into the pond and starting swimming after the mother duck and her babies. They were so cute that I just wanted to catch up to them but they never gave me a chance. Mother Duck decided that she would get my attention by flapping one wing in the water and making a heck of a lot of noise. What a cool game she was playing so I decided to follow her instead of the babies. I did hear someone screaming my name but I was having so much fun that I just kept swimming back and forth across the pond after Mother Duck. Meanwhile my human had met up with someone named the Course Marshall. He seemed to think that I should get out of the water. Well, my human decided that she would come swimming with me after the Mother Duck. The humans clothes that day were not as versatile as mine and she ended up wearing a coat of algae over her pink blouse and beige chinos. Even her shoes had algae on the velcro. Clothes are so stupid!

Planet Dog balls come my way!

The human woman decided that I would like a few new balls. Who wouldn't? She shopped around a bit on foot and then decided to have a look at eBay. A company fittingly called Happy Dog Outfitters had some wonderful balls at unbelievable prices. Even with the cost of shipping the balls came in at $3.00 less per ball than a local store. Wowsers! The human woman was so happy with her purchase that she asked me if I could blog about it. For sure, said I!

It's hotter than you know where! My human woman tells me it's a dry heat so it's not so bad. The temperature outside today was 35 degrees Celsius or 95 degrees Fahrenheit. The human woman comes from Montreal where they have something called the Humidex which is the funky opposite of Windchill. To us dogs, hot is hot and cold is a lot better.:-)

Amici snuck up on me yesterday and tagged me to play "Seven Secrets". Here we go:

1. My real name is "Fancy" as in "Fancy Ass" jeans from the 1980's. All of my brothers and sisters have jean names and I got the coolest one! The male human was not too keen on calling me "Fancy", although I think I am pretty fancy, so the human woman came up with the nice name "Franki". I am frank and I am fancy!

2. My human tells me that car rides are fun but I hate the car! Whenever we have to go inside the car, I have a tantrum and refuse to get in. The humans lure me in with cookies but the minute I am in the car I want to get out. They talk about getting a "crate" or a "gate" for me but I think that those things will make it worse. I will keep you posted on my autophobia.

3. My favourite toy is Hide-a-Squirrel They live in a little tree trunk and I can carry them around the house and pull them out when I like! They always squeak for me so I know they like me.

4. Soft pillows are my weakness. I like to remove the stuffing and make the pillows softer. Along with my dog hair, there are piles of fluffy stuffing floating down the hallways. All in all, it creates a somewhat snow-like effect which reminds me of my first winter in Dawson Creek.

5. I like strawberries! One day my human discovered me eating her strawberries from the strawberry planter in the backyard and she didn't get mad. Now all the strawberries are for me. How cool is that?

6. I like to chew on bamboo and I am not, I repeat NOT, a panda bear. The best parts of the bamboo are the fresh shoots which spring up pretty well over night. I am allowed to bring pieces of bamboo into the living room when I feel like a good chew.
The human man brought a giant piece of what I thought was bamboo home from work one day. It turned out to be a sugar cane and I am disposing of it chunk by chunk...

7. I have a secret angel who always makes sure I have a special treat on top of my dry food when I come back from my walk. When we arrive home I always make a dash for the kitchen to see what awaits me. Sometimes I find a few pieces of tripe or even some bits of prosciutto atop my dry food. One time a cheese with blue veins even showed up! Who would have guessed that the world had so many tastes to offer.

Now it's my turn to play tag! I'm sneaking down I-5 on July 4th and I'm gonna tag my friend Royal for seven things to share about himself.

How can it be that there is a beautiful boy Husky living in Seattle who looks exactly like me but is one month younger? The answer lies in the space-time continuum We were not separated at birth but we are separated by space and time. Now that I have got that out of the way let's have a look at some of our pictures. This beautiful boy's name is Royal and he shares his blog with two other pups named Alki and Brock. Collectively they are known as "The Beasts"! Even our human's knees look the same.

Squirrel Hut & Puppy News

I am so happy with my little squirrel hut that I thought you would like a link to the company which makes them. The company is called The Kyjen Company and they have lots of really cool toys. My human's friend will be getting a new puppy soon and I have made it clear to the humans that the new pup must have either a "Hide-A-Squirrel" or a "Hide-A-Bee". The new pup will be an English Mastiff from Rainy Days Mastiffs in Republic, Washington. One of the boys will coming our way at the beginning of May.

Talk about growing into my name, I am developing a "V" right in the middle of my forehead! Is that cool or what? Name it and it will grow.:-)

My two favourite toys these days are my squeaky fish and my "Hide-A-Squirrel". There is nothing better than the collection of squeaky squirrels or perhaps chipmunks who live inside the little hut. I pull them out and my human puts them back in. I have trained her to gather up my toys for me and to place them all in my toy box. She is learning fast!

On another note, I tried to complete the destruction of the cover on my chair but got tangled up in my efforts. I look pretty good in my babushka even though it's a lot bigger than me.:-)

Today my human took me for a walk down Main Street to watch the paving crews work. She says that I should learn all about everything so that nothing scares me. We walked by one huge machine which was laying blacktop and the nice man on top stopped the machine so that he could meet me! We got along so well that he let us take his picture. While we were playing, a roller went by and the ground vibrated like an earthquake and it did not bother me at all. My new bud said that I was very good with such noisy conditions. Even my human got more excited about the vibrations than I did but that's because she's a woowooman.:-)

The woowooman invited me to help her with some digging and pruning in the garden today. I was really up for the challenge so I focused on my hole which is becoming my master work. Somehow my legs seemed a bit longer today so I was able to dig much deeper than ever.

Digging deep

The woowooman invited me into the backyard again for some intensive digging and pruning on this first sunny day in three weeks! I made the best of it by assisting her with the planting and pruning of a bamboo in a pot. The potting soil smelled so good that I just had to stick my nose into the pot several times to breathe in the great aroma of the warm soil.

On another note, my hole is becoming bigger, deeper and more beautiful with each passing week. Somehow my legs seem to be a lot longer this week which means that I can dig deeper than I have ever dug before. It feels so good to stretch out in one's own personal hole.

Busy week and St. Puddles Day

I have been keeping the humans very busy this week! One day while they were at work I disposed of an irritating straw bowl. I saw no purpose for this item since it simply held the humans' grooming tools such as brushes and a hairdryer. I am firm believer in bowls being used for food and food only!

Today the woowooman human invited me to help her in the garden. I could not believe my luck. I guess it's the luck of the Irish that she let me get as dirty as I could while she dug up some new holes for me.

Marching

March is the month when my sister Angel Tara was born in 1998. The other day I found a piece of rawhide buried in a piece of decorative brick and I realized that it was carefully stored away by Tara for the future. The human had attempted to fill in Tara's gorgeous holes with store-bought soil but I have attempted to restore the holes to their former greatness. My paws are still small but I was able to establish a paw-hold in the centre of the Great Hole. Pictures will follow...

Training the Humans

These humans are so soft. I have modified their behaviour and improved their posture by convincing them that a plywood board on the sofa was a necessity. Next I have added my own array of toys for them to play with when I feel like it. I am finding the humans to be somewhat entertaining although they are a bit slow on the uptake.:-)

Paper Training My Way

The humans around this house have been placing me gently on rectangular pieces of paper for the past week hoping that I will leave behind something of value. I am getting the hang of it. In fact, I am so good that I can make a placement on top of a pocket book! The humans are using huge sheets of paper but I demonstrated my technique in a confined space right on top of Michael Crichton's novel "Timeline". As you will see in the accompanying photograph, it took some delicate footwork to negotiate proper placement of the payload in such a confined space but I wanted to demonstrate my flexibility to these humans. They still have not figured out that I am good, really good!

This funny little white thing has decided to follow me around the house. I am not sure where I picked it up but it could have been in the back yard which is totally white. I tried chewing it off but it was still there this morning when I woke up. It's pretty quiet and keeps me company so I guess it's not too bad to have around. Will keep you updated on its activities!

My name is Franki but my huwoman likes to call me Frenzy. Why would that be? I live on a quiet residential street in the V5X FSA which makes me a Station O. Not exactly a 90210 but an "O" none the less. I know so much for a little dog but that's because my big sisters Angel Tara and Angel Elsie left lots of scents, sents and sense for me to discover in my new home. I am picking up where they left off and I plan to do a good job of it. Talk to you soon!

Little Miss Franki V

The last three days have been a whirlwind of excitement and thrills. Our new pup arrived on Thursday evening with her "grandma" Debra and "grandpa" Mike from Dawson Creek. Incredibly they drove down to Vancouver in two short days taking the Coquihalla during a snowstorm. Four puppies were destined for the Lower Mainland so Debra and Mike decided to drive down instead of flying the puppies which is the normal procedure.

We decided to call her Franki because she has one blue eye just like Ol' Blue Eyes but with an "i" at the end because she is a girl. She likes anything to do with fabric and has already been found chewing the carpet corners as well as my sweaters,bathrobes, blankets and towels. Franki V(V for Vancouver) made her debut at the vet yesterday and she already has a loyal following. This afternoon we are off to the dog park to meet some old friends.

Sad news

I have very sad news to report to all of the blogging dogs of the internet. My dearest Tara passed away two weeks ago from a twisted intestine. It was very sudden and it was fortunate that I was home at the time. Tara brought such wonders to my life and I will be eternally grateful to her for being my constant companion for almost nine years. To all of you blogging dogs, I pass the torch to you to keep the flame of love and fun alive.

Cool Christmas Cookies

My human's friend Gina gave me some wonderful presents tonight. I am the luckiest dog because Gina gave me a doggie pizza cookie AND a gingerbread human. Of course, I ate the pizza first and saved the gingerbread human for dessert. Needless to say, I ate the human head first. Is there any other way to eat a gingerbread human?:-)

It's that icky time of year when the humans put salt on the sidewalks so they won't slip on the ice. Personally, I would rather slip on the ice than have salt seep into my paws. My human heard of some wonderful dog booties made by a company called Muttluks and she ordered me a set of booties today. I can't wait to see them and try them on. For sure I will have some photos for all of you! The nice lady in Toronto promised that my boots would arrive by next Friday. Until then you will have to imagine how good those boots will look on my pretty feet. I thought you might like to see some pictures of me on a recent snowy day in Vancouver without my boots.:-)

K9 H2O

My human learned about a fantastic place for dogs yesterday. In the Fraser Valley town of Abbotsford lives a woman who decided to turn her indoor swimming pool into a therapy pool for dogs. This wonderful woman's name is Kendall and she calls her business K9 H2O. If you visit the website, you will notice that it takes a little while to load up and then you must double click to enter. After that everything is groovy.

All kinds of programs are offered for us pooches from recreational swims to therapeutic swims for dogs recovering from operations. K9 H2O even offers a weight reduction program. What a cool place!

Abbotsford is a bit of a drive for my human but she seems to like the idea of me swimming in an indoor pool. I love to swim but it's a tad cool out there these days. I am even thinking of having a pool party for my birthday in March! Is that a cool thing or what?

Harnessed to Hope Northern Breed Auction

My buddies over in Pennsylvannia are gearing up for a giant fund-raising effort to support the veterinary needs of dogs fostered by the Harnessed to Hope Northern Breed Rescue. Some of the pups have had a rough time of it and they need good veterinary care. There is an exciting auction at eBay to raise funds. There are so many cool things there that I could not decide which ones I should bid on. Of course my human wanted the Siberian umbrella but I vetoed her and picked the beautiful Hand-made Rosary with the medal of St. Anthony. He is the patron saint of animals. He's a good guy.

It's November and November means only one thing around these parts. Rain. Lots of rain. Not showers, not drizzle, no rainbows, no sun only rain. It's good for the environment but for us dogs, it gets a bit tiresome. Many thanks for all of the wonderful comments regarding my fantastic hole! My human recently reminded me that when I was a young pup, I had already developed a keen sense of hole dynamics. Have a look at one of my earlier creations which somewhat resembles a baseball diamond with pits rather than bases. At this early point in my career, I had not discovered that a hole could be created large enough to fit my beautiful behind. My early work is characterized by many small holes. Now that I am older and wiser I realize that one large hole has far greater value than a collection of many small holes. Live and learn.

Hip to hips

It's my favourite time of year! The nights are getting cooler and the hips are on the rosebushes. I like to look for the ripest rosehip and then I devour it in a flash. My human tells me that they are full of vitamin C and are really good for me. Heck, we huskies are born knowing stuff like that.:-)

The Hole

I have been perfecting my hole and it is really looking good.
My stupid human used up all of her holidays and now she has to devote herself to her job for a while. I have heard that dogs have a large vocubulary but the word "job" does not ring a bell for me. If she had a brain she would stay home and work on my hole with me. It would be much more rewarding.

Oyama Lake

My two humans took me for a great car ride to the Okanagan and did I ever have fun! We stayed in a nice cabin with a lake in front. The cabin came equipped with a wolf-cross named Wolf but we called him Wolfgang since he was King of dog gang. Wolfgang slept outside our cabin every night and he went for walks with us. There were two other dogs in Wolfgang's clan: a Rotweiler named Diesel and a poodle named Shadow. We had a great time together. No one seemed to swim as much as I did but, when you live beside a lake, maybe you begin to take it for granted. I sure didn't! There was a big black dog on the road but we were never formally introduced.

A Day at the Beach

Today was the perfect day at the beach. I got to see all of my friends including Lolo who is my distant cousin. My two English Mastiff friends Heidi and Greta were there along with their nephew Tank the English Bulldog. What a gang!

Strange ways of my human

My human has been very busy lately and she regrets the lack of new blogging information. Here are five strange things about my human.

1. She likes to collect my hair.;-)

2. She attached a bell to the back door so I could train her and let her know when I have to go outside. I discovered that I can use the bell to summon her to give me special treats when there is good food on the counter. I ring the bell and run over to sit in front of the food so she knows that I want some too!

3. She likes to pretend she is a dog sometimes. My friends Heidi and Greta were quite confused by her new face!

4. She likes to take me to Dairy Queen so she can share her cone with me. She eats the first half and then I take over and demolish the second half. I think she gives me the second half because she knows that my tongue is far more efficient in the removal of the ice cream from the cone.

5. She feeds me radishes!

Doggy Lama

My human has never shared me with a dog walker but, if she did, I think that the best person to take me for a walk would be Mollisima from Doggy Lama. Mollisima keeps us all up to date on the dogs she walks and the places they go via her cameraphone. She posts wonderful pictures every single day. Here's a link to one of my favourite pictures. 5 weird things about me!

Turbo licked me in the ear and then he "tagged" me! I guess that I am "it" for the moment. Read on for instructions:

The player of this game starts by listing "5 weird things/habits" about yourself, then you "tag" five friends and list their names. Those who get "tagged" need to write on their blogs about their "5 weird things/habits", as well as state this rule clearly, then "tag" five more victims. Now for the moment of truth. Here are my five weirdest things:

1. When I was a puppy I used to peepee in the bathtub. My humans thought I was pretty smart but due to peer pressure I was trained to peepee on paper. How weird is that?

2. I like to bark at my food before I eat it. It does not seem right to just start eating the food without giving it ample warning for its impending doom.

3. I hate, absolutely despise, being brushed! My human has spent hundreds of dollars on every type of brush imaginable but I refuse to submit to the tyranny of the brush. Each hair on my body will leave only when the time is right and not before.

4. The Alpha Human takes me fishing with him sometimes and when he catches the fish he permits me to lick its cold, slimy body.

5. My most memorable snack was freeze dried cow pies that I found in the pasture in the spring time. They were light and tasty somewhat like macaroons.

Corn dog

My human taught me to eat corn on the cob and now she expects to take pictures with one hand while she holds the corn for me to eat! It is a rather unwieldy operation and once in a while I bite her finger instead of the corn. Now she wants to show everyone how I eat corn. Sheesh, these humans are pretty weird.

My Bestest Friends

It took me the longest time to get some pictures of my best Canine-Canadian friends. The two English Mastiffs are my girlfriends Heidi on the left and Greta on the right. The dashingly handsome Poodle is our boyfriend Trevor. We are the bestest buddies in the world and we like to play on the beach and roam the park together. Some days the tide is very high and we have no beach.
I found a handy dandy "Tide" finder and I put it on my blog so I can check when the tide is high. In the Winter months the tides are always high in the daytime so we never get to play on the beach at all.

Northern Dog Rescue/Foster Site

Many humans think that we Northern Breeds are very "cute" but few of them understand that such cuteness is packaged with an equal, if not greater, amount of deranged behaviour. When we are with our pack of humans we are the life of the party but, when we are left home alone, we get bored faster than you can say "the dog dug a hole in my bed"! Many Northern Breeds are abandoned after a few months because the owners do not have the time or the patience to deal with a seemingly wild creature in their midst. nobody knows you are a dog. Dogs have been part of the internet since the early days. Even before I was born, canines were on the net. The early canine pioneers faced ridicule from the feline world. Cats preferred to sleep upon the devices but the devoted canines perservered and created a web presence.

Back in Black

My human has returned and I am ready to rumble. While she was using the giant sucking mechanism, she hit the white stick of many tails and my fine tower of pictures was blasted to smithereens. Luckily, she had a spare one in the basement and, when she plugged it in, she found some excellent photos of me. This one is my favourite. In the Spring when the tides are low on the Fraser River I like to play in the mud for hours. I love the way it feels when it squishes through my toes.

Upcoming Hiatus

My human will be taking all of her suitcases for a long walk starting this Sunday. If I were her, I would leave all of those stupid things here and I would just take me for the long walk. She tells me that dogs are not allowed in the giant dog house which flies above the Earth. She said that all of the humans have to give their suitcases to strangers for safe-keeping in the belly of the dog house. Whoa! It sounds really bad to me so I am glad to be staying at home. She asked me to show you a picture from the giant dog-house, so here it is. She calls it Mount Baker. Sounds like a good dog's name to me.:-) See you in two weeks.

My Friend Flex

that humans can take to find out what kind of animal they really are. It turns out that my human is really an otter! I guess that's why she's always trying to get me to swim with her.:-)

A Trip To Chevron

My stupid human had to go back to her job this week so there was little time for blogging fun since I am not allowed to use the computer when she is at work. ;-( I finally got a picture of my best work so far. I call it "Hole 2006". It is conveniently located inside the drip-line of the cedar tree so I do not get wet when it pours here in Vancouver which is just about every day.:-)
